Potter has been out of work since April, when he was fired as Chelsea manager. The former Brighton and Swansea manager was only at Stamford Bridge for eight months after replacing Thomas Tuchel, winning only 38.7% of his games in charge.

He has since been considered for a number of positions, the most noteworthy being the Fulham job when Marco Silva was in talks about a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal – a deal that did not materialise.

Lyon, according to 90min, are the most recent club to express an interest in Potter’s services. According to sources, the club’s co-owner, John Textor, met with Potter this week to offer him the first-team managing position at the Groupama Stadium. Potter, on the other hand, declined the offer.

Laurent Blanc, the current manager of Lyon, is expected to lose his job following an absolutely dismal start to the 2023/24 season. Lyon had only one point from their first four games this season, losing 4-1 to Montpellier and Paris Saint-Germain, and they now sit at the bottom of the standings.

With Potter out of the running, insiders tell 90min that Will Still is the main candidate to take over at Lyon. Last season, the English manager became an internet phenomenon due to his amazing accomplishments at Reims and his passion of Football Manager.
