GEEP Training Empowerment Programme: The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has started the training of staff of the National Orientation Agency as master trainers for seamless execution and implementation of the Government Enterprise and interest-free programme (GEEP) for TraderMoni, MarketMoni, FarmerMoni.

About GEEP

The Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) is an initiative by the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide financial inclusion and access to micro-credit for Nigerians at the bottom of the economic pyramid.

GEEP Training Programme

The Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) being one of the four (4) National Social Investment Programme is an initiative that is designed to give collateral and interest-free credits to poor and vulnerable people at the bottom of the economic pyramid d this includes persons with disabilities.

GEEP Empowerment Programme:

The formally announce collaborative partnership with the National Orientation Agency as one of the partners in the implementation of the NSIP programmes since its inception.

GEEP Training Empowerment Programme Eligibility

The Community Orientation and Mobilization officers (COMO’s) as the – “GEEP Local Government Desk Officers” at all the 774 local government levels areas across the 36 states and the FCT.

The role of the desk officers will be to:

a) Sensitize communities on the GEEP programme

b) Register interested beneficiaries of TraderMoni, MarketMoni and FarmerMoni

c) Collect and collate necessary data for the programme

d) Provide necessary feedback to the programme coordinators at State and Federal Levels

e) Encourage active participation in the programme

f) Uphold the mandate of the programme and lead with honesty, fairness under conditions of oath.

What are the GEEP Loan Products?

GEEP currently has 3 loan products:

• TraderMoni
• MarketMoni
• FarmerMoni

Who is eligible for a GEEP loan?

Every trader, artisan & farmer in Nigeria is eligible for a GEEP loan. GEEP loans are designed to provide credit to small businesses with a convenient repayment period of 6 months.

How can I Access a GEEP Loan?

Registrations are done by GEEP enumerators using a specialised app on smartphones or tablets only (no paper, no forms). The agents capture biodata, GPS location and facial IDs of the trader and their business. GEEP currently has over 4,000 agents in market clusters across Nigeria.

How is GEEP driving Financial Inclusion?

Financial inclusion is about getting people to use financial services as a habit to enhance their lives. By doing this, they are building a track record that allows them access more financial services: take loans, save towards their goals, get insurance and other financial services. GEEP gives its beneficiaries a strong and immediate reason to be financially included (operating bank accounts or mobile wallets).
