The off-price section of Nordstrom, Inc., Nordstrom Rack, provides shoppers with a large selection of fashionable clothing, accessories, and shoes at daily savings of up to 70% off list prices.

History of the Nordstrom Rack

The first Nordstrom Rack location, a full-line outlet store, debuted in Seattle in 1973. A Nordstrom store in downtown Seattle’s basement served as the first Nordstrom Rack site.

HauteLook, which Nordstrom bought in 2011, debuted its website in February 2014. The Nordstrom Rack online store was created on a platform that was also used by Nordstrom’s flash sale company, Hautelook.

On the Nordstrom Rack website, users have the option of switching between Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack.

An online store operated by Nordstrom Rack offers name-brand products at discounted prices. Finding products by kind, brand, or price range is simple.

A quarter of all sales at Nordstrom come from Nordstrom Rack. Sales at Nordstrom Rack have reached over $2.5 billion since 2013.

As part of its global development, Nordstrom Rack opened its first location in Canada on March 22, 2018. Following Nordstrom’s departure from the country in 2023, all seven of the Nordstrom Rack locations in Canada will be shut down.

Nordstrom was rumored to be thinking of spinning off Nordstrom Rack into a different company on December 20, 2021.
