Transneft Urals Completes Reconstruction of Ik River Underwater Crossing in Republic of Bashkortostan.
Transneft Urals has completed reconstruction of the Chekmagush – Aznakayevo oil trunk pipeline underwater crossing across the Ik River in Sharansky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The works were carried out in the area of responsibility of the Arlan Oil Pipeline Directorate in accordance with the technical upgrading and overhaul programme for 2019. The length of the new OTP section, which was built in the new right-of-way, is 942 metres.
The streambed part of the underwater passage was replaced. Oil was pumped out of the disconnected section using the no-pit technique with the displacement of oil by an inert gas mixture. A new stop valve unit with the installation of a sliding gate valve equipped with an electric drive was built on the bank, pressure monitoring devices and a PIG passage indicator in prefabricated wells were installed. Instrumentation points of the electrochemical protection system for the oil pipeline were installed, a permanent road crossing the oil pipeline at the intersection with the existing field road was laid.
At the OTP replacement section, the improvement of the corridor with soil layout and the natural slopes’ terrain restoration for the organised runoff of rainwater was carried out, polymeric identification and warning signs were installed.
The purpose of the works was to increase the reliability and safety of the Chekmagush — Aznakayevo oil trunk pipeline operation. Transneft careers, Transneft recruitment 2020
