Names of successfully admitted candidates will continue to be uploaded on a daily basis according to your department.

The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) Cross River State has released the modalities to be used for it’s Post UTME Screening Examination Exercise for the 2020/2021 Academic Session.

Latest Information: After a long deliberation at the senate Meeting today, the University of Calabar has approved Friday 5th February 2021 for resumption of academic activities.

2020 UNICAL Post UTME & Resumption

This is to notify all UTME candidates that the closing date of the UTME registration portal is until further notice. All applicants should take advantage of this window to finish all pending registration.

Meanwhile, all applicants who did a change of institution/course can start registering on the school website.

Those who did change of course only within the university should register for their old courses.

UNICAL Post UTME Date

  1. Post UTME/DE registration is billed to end on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.

The likeliness of further extension is not feasible.

  1. The dates for the examination have not been fixed kindly debunk any information that says otherwise.

Albeit, there is a provisional date(s) for this which is still subject to further scrutiny and subsequent approval (decision to be made soon).

  1. The venue and sitting arrangement (timetable) for the examination has been drafted and will be released in the coming days.

With the aid of the timetable, you’d be able to know your personal examination date, time and venue: UNICAL Post UTME Screening Timetable

  1. The University of Calabar electronics library and post graduate building are the two accredited venues for the examination.

The examination is going to hold for just a week, accreditation of candidates starts from 7am daily.

  1. You are expected to be in Calabar at least a day to your examination date, avoid traveling to Calabar on your examination day.

UNICAL Change of Course Form

  1. Those that did change of course but the new course isn’t reflecting, you’ll write your exams on your old course. However, your admission consideration will be on your new course provided all necessary requirements like O’level, cut offs are met.
  2. Those that did change of institution, keep trying, you may or may not be able to register at the end of everything but if at the end you are unable to register, you’ll write on the day set aside for problem candidates.

Come with your money, credentials and the scratch card pin on the exam day.

  1. Results of the Aptitude Test will be made available a few days after the examination, you need a scratch card pin to access this result online, the price for the pin has always been 1k (1,000).

I’ll speak more on the result as we keep progressing!

UNICAL Departmental Cut Off Mark

  1. After the examination, comes departmental cut off mark which determines your chances of being admitted, students’ average performance plays a key role in the determination of these cut offs, high/good performances = hight cut offs, poor/low performances = low cut offs.
  2. UNICAL don’t usually publicize her department cut offs, but we always have our ways to get these cut offs for you all to see and know whether you’ll be admitted or not, plan B might come in when you are certain you won’t be admitted judging from the cut off.

I’ll also speak more on this in due course.

  1. Admission probability is JAMB score plus(+) Post UTME score divided(/) by 2, each state in Nigeria has its own cut off mark in all departments.
  2. Merit/first admission list usually accompanies these cut-offs, and each admission list has its own quota, compilation starts a week after Post UTME and the list will be available within few days but won’t be made public as it needs approval from JAMB.
  3. JAMB inline with its policy has to vet this list and subsequently approve it [there’s an online portal (CAPS) created for this purpose by JAMB for all institutions], this is to make sure that, admission is being given to candidates that merited it.

The Merit list is usually unadulterated, more on Merit list coming soon!

  1. After merit list, comes first supplementary admission list, UNICAL will release up-to 5 supplementary admission lists this year + merit list making it 6 in total, as I said earlier; each admission list has its own quota, ELDs, and Locality states have a role they play in these processes
  2. After Post UTME, kindly go to any JAMB accredited centre and re-upload your O’level results, else you won’t be admitted even if you like score 400/400 in Post UTME.
  3. For accommodation during Post UTME, application for a space in the University of Calabar Hotel is still ongoing. To apply kindly send the following through text message to 09035802438.

  1. Once we receive your application (text), a unique booking number will be sent to you, with it; you have secured a space for yourself at the University of Calabar Hotel.

Price is #2000 per night, all payments will be made on arrival at the hotel not NOW!

P.S: Prices include; insurance for personal belongings, 24-hour security, CCTV, on-site Accommodation Team and out of hours Warden Team.

  1. Free transportation to the hotel, for those that’d arrive late at night will also be made available.

Albeit, no aspirant will be allowed to stay for more than 3 days.

  1. You’ll receive an SMS from the hotel requesting you to send your arrival date together with your unique booking number in due course, this is to make sure, your choice of room is made available before you arrive at the hotel.

P.S: Pursuant to the new policy, you are expected to come with a nose mask. No nose mask, no entry to the hotel!
